Dr.Coco Garcia Presented by Dr. Garcia: Adult Nonsurgical Protocols Utilizing the Carrier ® System Course Overview: Harmonious forces are created when combining the use of the Carriere Motion™ Appliance and the new Carriere SLX ™ Self-Ligating Bracket System. This allows you to achieve both occlusal and soft tissue results, which ensure long-term stability and optimal aesthetics. Course Objectives: • Achieving both occlusal and soft tissue harmony for you patients • Orthodontic and orthopedic treatment options • Treating Class III cases in adults About Instructor Dr. “Coco” Garica: In June 1987, Dr. Garcia became an Associate Professor at the Institute para El Desarrollo Actualizacion y de Profesionales and the Internacional Course Coordinator until 1993 – Mexico City, Mexico. In May 1994, Dr. Garcia accepted the position as a Professor at the Internacional Maxillofacial Orthopedic Department/ International Coordinator for U.N.A.M., Iztacala Campus. Dr. Garcia also previously held the position of International Director of Continued Education at Orthodontic Department at I.D.A.P., Mexico City, Mexico. Dr Garcia trained under Dr. James McNamara in functional appliance therapy and under Dr. Richard McLaughlin and Dr. James Hilger in the straight wire appliance and the use of segmental and utility arches. From 2001 to 2011, Dr. Garcia continued his functional appliance therapy training under Dr. Tizianno Baccetti. Dr. Garcia has been teaching orthodontics for the last 30 years throughout Canada, United States, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Poland, Spain, Italy, Pakistan, the Philippines, Holland, Portugal, Germany, and Australia. He has developed a diagnostic system that is extremely effective and uses a common sense approach to mechanics and treatment planning. Dr. Garcia has established over 30 study clubs and 3 orthodontic centers with teaching facilities in Germany, Portugal, and Tijuana, Mexico. He has also developed a nonsurgical approach to treating adult Class III and Class II cases with ARS and Twin Block modified by Dr. Gene Williamson, Dr. Duane Grummons, and Dr. William Clark. Presented by Dr. McFarlane: Clear Aligners Aren’t Enough: Now What? Course Overview: Course Objectives: More and more patients are requesting Clear Aligner orthodontics. Some patients are not ideal candidates for this type of treatment, resulting in lengthy treatment plans and occasionally less-than-perfect occlusion. Having additional orthodontic techniques that you will be able to incorporate with your current aligner treatment will allow you to achieve improved, long-term stability in less time, and with better patient compliance. Starting a Clear Aligner case with a solid Class I platform greatly reduces the number of trays patients will have to wear, and improves your final results and profitability. • Case selection for better Clear Aligner outcomes • Achieving a Class I platform prior to Clear Aligner treatment • The orthodontic movements that are challenging for Clear Aligners • Specific devices and auxiliaries for: Extrusions, Rotations, AnteroPosterior change, Transverse change Presented by Dr. McFarlane: Class II Correction using the Twin Force Bite Corrector Device Course Overview: Course Objectives: When diagnosing a Class II malocclusion, attention should be given not only to the sagittal plane, but the transverse and vertical plane should also be considered. Skeletal Class II patients may benefit from treatment which includes mandibular advancement, maxillary expansion, and vertical control. He received his Masters of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics in 1992 from the University of Western Ontario. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. McFarlane maintains a private orthodontic practice in Winnipeg, Canada and Hollywood, California. He is an internationally-renowned speaker, and was a leading pioneer lecturer for a clear aligner orthodontic company. He has given numerous lectures for the American and Canadian Associations of Orthodontics. His latest penchant, however, is giving back through “McFarlane Missions,” which provides dental and medical volunteer trips to third-world countries. Presented by Dr. Klempner: Early Class II Correction Course Overview: Course Objectives: Correcting the Class II malocclusion at the beginning of treatment, when patient compliance levels are at their highest, provides unique efficiencies and reduces the need for extractions. The use of the Carriere Motion Appliance, as well as the Twin Block ® Appliance and other functional appliances in the mixed dentition will be discussed.
