WebQuest Template-Taken from Bernie Dodge’s WebQuest Site: Introduction Task Evaluation Process Resources Conclusion Introduction In Astronomy, you have explored the birth and death of stars, in Meteorology, you have studied the reasons for the seasons, and in Plate Tectonics, you have discovered why volcanoes erupt! BUT … How did people of ancient cultures explain rainstorms, earthquakes, and other natural disasters? How did people of ancient cultures explain starry skies, love at first sight, and blue moons? According to Ancient Greek culture, these events were explained by the everyday actions of the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Some of the most famous Greek Gods and Goddesses are called Olympians, because they dwell on Mount Olympus. Each God and Goddess has his/her own special powers, physical characteristics, talents, and uniquenesses, so come along and explore! Task Your task is to research your favorite Olympian! They all have fascinating powers, but who interests you? Are you interested in the god who has power over everything and everyone? Are you interested in the god who is the most helpful? Is there a God or Goddess most like you? From the gathered information, you will create a Power Point presentation on your special deity! Process 1. Select a God or Goddess to research from the following: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis, Hephaestus 2. Using the resources below, find out information about the special powers, physical characteristics, talents, and uniquenesses of your God or Goddess. You are encouraged to take notes for future use! 3. Create a PowerPoint presentation focusing your research. You must follow the guidelines below: 5 slides (Introduction, Physical Characteristics, Special Powers, Talents, Uniquenesses) Each slide must contain an appropriate graphic, as well as text Use the same color background or theme throughout your slide show Use one consistent slide transition Use phrases to provide information, rather than complete sentences You are limited to 4-6 bullets per slide…your graphic can help do the talking! 4.
