Introduction
This essay is about how the technology from the ancient times
influenced to the present. There are some information about connections to the
modern times and connections with the function.
Ancient Greece
The ancient Greeks lived next to Asia Minor. The Greece was found about 40,000 years
ago. They lived in caves and hunted for food. Farming was I of people introduced by new
groups before 6000BC. Greek armies were based on infantry called hoplites. Hoplites
bought their own armor and weapons. Helmets, chest pads, and shin guards called greaves
protected hoplites. Hoplites carried 1.8-meter long spears made of wood with a metal point.
The rich warriors carried 2 spears and 1sword. Only some soldiers were able to go into the
Greek navy. The navy was a strict army that people once got in they can’t quit until they
die at war.

Ancient Egypt
The civilization of ancient Egypt
was around 5000 BC –c.0 AD. They are
located next to Saudi Arabia. The most
important changes were taken place in
southern Egypt around 3300BC. Such as population of wealth of the area was
nearly growing. Towns were built, defended by high mud-brick walls, and
large statues were constructed as burial places for the kings. The Egyptians
only battled with wooden or leather shields for protection at war. They used
spears, swords, axes, daggers, and clubs or maces for fighting. These weapons
were all for melee weapons. For the far range weapons they used slings and
arrows or even far accurate and effective weapons.

Ancient China
Around 1000 BC Ancient China was found by explores. A people
called the Chou, who extended the territory wider, conquered the end of the
11th century BC by Shang. It was divided into smaller areas, some ruled by
the kings, others by chosen leaders. During this century there were many wars
and political changes. China is located next to the Pacific Ocean.

Function and connection of Ancient Greek Weapons
The function of swords is for fighting at war, entertainment, and
killing. Shields are common weapons to Greek soldiers too because you would
need some protection to not get hurt along with fighting. They use armor to
protect themselves too. For example chest pads and shin guards. These
fighting items relate to the present weapons because they use it for killing, war,
and stealing. Now we use machines like guns and airplanes, but if the ancient
times haven’t figured out about weapons we maybe won’t have weapons for
war.
Function and Connection of Ancient Egypt
The land of Egypt is a large country. Now it is located in North Africa. Egypt
used spears, axes, and daggers, instead of swords. They usually use swords for
war but usually swords. They connected to knife in modern times. Now we
usually use knifes for cooking. Egypt still uses daggers, axes and many more
fighting items when there is war for the Egyptians.
Function and Connection of Ancient China
Ancient China made gunpowder and used it to make cannons, fireworks, guns,
bombs, and rockets. They made it because they needed something to help
them succeed at war. Ancient China was the first to make explosives. They
succeeded the war by using gunpowder. That influenced our time for using
gunpowder. Crossbows are one of the most important weapons in armies of
China.
