ABOUT
ICM?
• The International Congress of Mathematicians
(ICM) is the largest congress in the mathematics
community. It is held once every four years under
the auspices of the International Mathematical
Union (IMU).
•
The Fields Medals, the Nevanlinna Prize, the
Gauss Prize, and the Chern Medal are awarded
during the opening ceremony on the first day of
the congress. Each congress is memorialized by
printed Proceedings recording academic papers
based on invited talks intended to reflect the
current state of the science.
PURPOSE
• The ICM(International Congress of Mathematicians) is the largest
international congress in the mathematics community, and it is held once in
every year. Especially ICM 2014, It is held in Seoul, Korea!
• It will be a very good chance for us to meet global-mathematicians, have
be concerned with mathematics, and make sure the vital role of
mathematics in a science & society.
• Also, we want to confirm the current status of Korean-mathematics and
have a proud of that, for this opportunity, the SEOUL ICM 2014.
EXPECTED EFFECT
• While participating this conference, we will have more interest in the
mathematic. Then, we can know the trendy issues of mathematics and the
application of mathematics throughout all fields including economics,
finances, etc.
• Through the lecture delivered by the winner of Fields Medal, it is hard to
understand the whole content, but we can feel the passion and endeavor
of the winner about the mathematics. With this passion and endeavor, we
will study mathematics, but not just mathematics, we also do more effort to
other fields including physics, chemistry, and biology.

IMPRESSION
• Before we went to the occasion, we thought it would be hard to understand
and time waste. The worry became true, but we don't think it was not just
time waste as we felt a lot. As a freshman, the explanations of their
achievements were impossible to understand, but we can feel there is more
interesting world which we want to reach. Because of this event, we could
get the motivation of mathematics. ICM was so grate activity.
