Event Notification Module
Introduction
Introduction
Event Notification Module (ENM) installation is one step in the commissioning of a system.
The ENM installer allows for a great deal of flexibility including both local and remote
database instances. To facilitate remote installation, the installer provides three install paths:
Complete Installation: The Event Notification Module and the SQL database will reside on
the same server host. The user selects an SQL instance on the local machine for the install to
configure the database server.
Database Server: Installs the database components on the target database server for Event
Notification Module.
Application Server: The user must select the target database server, but only the
application components will be installed. The user must install the database server first.
Requirements
Note the following system requirements when installing or using Event Management
solutions.
NOTE: For server systems where SQL Server will also be installed, refer to the SQL
requirements to ensure the system can support both SQL and ENM.

Upgrade from Active Pager Module or Event Notification Solution
ENM was previously called Active Pager Module (APM 6.3) or Event Notification Solution
(ENS 6.4). The APM 6.3 and ENS 6.4 applications were installed on systems with the
following configuration:
Windows 2008, SQL 2005 Express, IONE 6.0 SP1
To upgrade a system from APM 6.3 or ENS 6.4 to ENM 7.0, follow these steps:
1. Detach the APM database PLES_APM, if the customer wants to preserve this database.
2. Detach the History database PLES_AEHistory, if the customer wants to preserve the
historical data.
3. Uninstall APM and Alarm Sentry or ENS.
4. Upgrade SQL Express 2005 to SQL 2008 Standard or R2.
5. After successfully upgrading SQL server, attach the PLES_APM and PLES_AEHistory
databases if they were saved.
6. (Optional) Upgrade IONE 6.0 SP1 to SPM 7.0 or SPM 7.0.1.
7. On the ENM installer disc, browse to the LegacyCleanup folder.
8. Run the LegacyCleanup.bat file. This utility deletes any files left behind after uninstalling
APM and Alarm Sentry.
9. Start the ENM installer and follow the install steps based on the desired setup type:
