Java Software Development Kit (JDK 8u121) installation Step by
Step Instructions
1. Click the download link “Download the Java SE Development Kit 8u121 from Oracle” available from the
Resources tab in the course website http://www.ecs.umass.edu/ece/ece122/
2. When Oracle’s download page appears, accept the license agreement, choose the appropriate version and click it
to download:
3. Once your file is downloaded, navigate to the directory where you saved the file and double click the file to begin
the installation. After installation window appears, click next:
4. Select installation directory. It is recommended to proceed with the default installation directory. Click
next.
5. Click Next to install JRE:
6. Click Close to complete setup.
7. Now setup Dr Java in your PC. To get started click on the download link in the resources page of the
course website.
8. Note that the Mac OS X app only works with the Apple Java 6 JDK. It is recommended to download
Jar file instead of Mac OS X app if you are using Mac OS X operating system.
9. Save the executable file. Dr Java doesn’t require installation. Just the executable file is sufficient.
10. Once downloaded, click the executable file to run Dr Java.
11. You are now all set to run your first Java program.
