person’s chance of developing melanoma later in life 2 times

have some positive benefits
 Vitamin D protects against osteoporosis, heart disease, & cancers. It also protects
against depression, insomnia & an overactive immune system
 # 3. Do you think the risks of sun exposure have drowned out the positive
benefits? Explain

indicator of lung cancer is
smoking tobacco

Discussion
 You do not have to write this down
 How might a desire for beauty affect decisions you make about your own
health?
 What examples from your own life demonstrate behaviors that place
beauty above health?
 What behaviors might you change if you knew they might have serious,
negative long-term effects n your health?
 What behaviors might you be more reluctant to change? Why?
 To what degree might you expect others (such as parents, teachers,
doctors, & legislators) to protect you against health risks, & how might
their actions affect your own sense of personal responsibility?
