They started out looking like apes, or monkeys according to fossils. Early men didn’t have much of a religion except for what they thought. And, they didn’t have a government set up. Their temple believed to connect heaven and earth. The people had many gods and their gods looked and acted just like people. They had supernatural powers. Their economy was based on trade with agriculture and farming. Farmers needed to keep records of their livestock. They started using tokens for trade as well. Their writing used pictures on clay tablets, but not everyone learned how to write. Pharaoh-Believed to be a God on earth. Had the most power. Responsible for making laws and keeping everything in order. Number System- The number, "zero" was invented by Aryabhatta. The number system is significant because it is a daily use to everyone in everyday life. Ayurveda- Earliest school of medicine known to man. Spinning wheelInvention that was made in Ancient India. The spinning wheel is a machine that spins wool, thread, and yarn. It also made flax into linen. The spinning wheel was very useful in Ancient India. The construction of sentences, compound nouns etc. was explained Economy- Rural agriculture was what took about a huge part of the economy. Other economical key facts of Ancient India were pottery, carpentry, metalwork, glass-work, jewelry making, weaving, and leather-work. There were other jobs though too. Hinduism- A polytheistic religion that had no main teacher inside India. Buddhism- Based off of Hinduism. The same things are important inside this religion and one of the main people where King Asoka. Jainism- A Non-theistic religion and was founded by a man named Mahavira. Jains existed thousands of years before Buddhism. Important aspects, karma and reincarnation. India was known as one of the richest counties until Britain invaded them. They were very proud of their wealth. They were farmers and wheat rice cotton. They grew salt. They were all traders and were well known for trading goods such as gold pottery, cinnamon, and pepper. Gold helped give the country it’s wealthy. There was some democracy, but the king was left with most Buddhism and Hinduism. They were polytheistic and their religion helped make the community happy and kind. as ordered rules operating on underlying fundamental structures. Ancient China Confucius- He created Confucianism & didn’t believe in old Chinese traditions. Laozi- Believed Dao was the creator of the universe and that everyone should live in peace and harmony Shi Huangdi- Ying Zheng (his real name) was responsible for bringing most of China together. Shang Dynasty- Was the first dynasty. Shang ruled the Huang He Valley. Han Dynasty- In 206 BC, the Han dynasty started taking over and reconstructing bond between china after a civil war break out. Gunpowder- this helped with making weapons in the future. Paper- Was used for writing language. Used for communication. Buddhism was founded in India but soon came to China. Abraham was important because father of Jewish tribe. Hebrews/Israelites Moses was the leader of the Israelites and he helped the Jews escape from Egypt from slavery. Ramese was Moses’s brother, but he wanted to kill his brother. Tzipporah gave faith to Moses during escaping Egypt. Miriam gave faith to Moses’s and told him to never give up. At first they had tribal leaders, but later in order to win battles in wars there needed to be a king. They were ruled by dynasties. Some were ruled for 80 years. At the top, were emperors. They made decisions with advisors. The common people were farmers, merchants, and tradesmen. Farmers grew wheat orange, etc. Some trades went to china and the Persian empire. Trading with other countries lead to a good economy because they were introduced to new things. Their regions were Confusism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Buddhism was founded in India but soon came to China. Their greatest achievement was the great wall of china because it helped defend their country. Paper, was another achievement which we use in our everyday live. Ancient Greece Ancient Rome Aristotle-Faculty member Alexander the Great- One of the greatest military leaders. Pericles- Considered best demo critic leader Athens had. Made a speech reminding the people of Athens and how great the government was. Peisistratus-Over threw the Grease government. Was considered a tyrant (a person who held power by force). Archimedes- famous mathematician and scientist. Inventor of the death ray. Julius Cesar helped change Rome and stopped the civil war from happening in Rome. Augustus made the army more professional and recreated the population that was lost in the civil war. Gaius Marius made better formations for the army and changed the way that Rome was governed. Marcus Aurelius was an emperor and changed many good things that his son ruined when he came to throne. Olympics stories (fables, legends and myths) Scrolls- had a fancy design. Court System- No public prosecutor Theater- There was plays of all sorts (comedy, tragedy, and satire.) Many buildings today have structures that were once used by the Romans. Romans were very specific with their architecture. Structures like the coliseum and dams were designed with great craftsmanship. Economy meant rules of household to the Greeks. -Economy was based on farming and trade. -They grew wheat, olives, and grapes. -Traded slaves and gold and silver. -Had kings and government branches. Greeks were polytheistic. They believed that their gods had an important role in their daily lives and in disastrous events. Greek religion helped people make their daily decisions. the belief in these gods created many stories and tales that we might know about today. In addition, the temples that the Ancient Greeks created are now famous throughout the world and help people understand the ways of the Greeks and their beliefs. Their economy was successful because of their agriculture, crafts and trades. Their soil wasn’t well for most crops but they grew grapes. Greece had to rely on their trade to survive. Ancient Greece people were polytheistic. The Greek stories about their Gods now help us understand how they thought in the past. -They were Polytheistic (more than one god) and deeply religious. -Had shrines for their gods -There were major disagreements between religions Christianity and the Roman religion. Ancient Rome was ruled by kings. They had government branches. Romans had military kings, kings who lead their troops. Their economy was based on trade. Romans traded gold, silver, and slaves. As they traded more, they traveled farther. Reaching other countries helped them be introduced to many different products. One of their most famous works today is their building structures. Romans were great architects. They built such things as coliseum and dams. Some of their works are still used today because they had a great way of building.
