lungs

-Oxygen + glucose undergo a chemical
reaction inside cells
-release energy
-produces CO2 and water

B. The Air You Breathe
1. Air is made up of:
a. 21% O2

2. When we breathe,
most of the air goes back
into the atmosphere.
C. The Path of Air
1. Air also includes particles
2. Nose
-dust, plant pollen, ashe from fires,
and microorganisms
2. Nose:
a. lining of the nose contain blood vessels
b. warm blood heats the air
c. cells lining the nose produce mucus
d. cilia: hairlike extensions
-sweep mucus that has trapped particles and
bacteria into the stomach
-or you sneeze it out
3. The Pharynx:

-surrounded by capillaries
