16. Major Accomplishments:
1. Actively engaged in the implementation of an UNICEF funded project on
Improvement of Backyard poultry in 100 villages of Mymensingh district to
provide dietary nutrition, self employment and formulation of logistics for
sustenance of small scale rural poultry units as a profilable
occupation/enterprise.
Responsibilities also included:
(a) Motivation for rearing of poultry including ducks by landless personnel,
marginal farmers, rural youth and women.
(b) Encouraging poultry raisers for formation of poultry societies; farming
organization and modus operandi for continuous building of fund;
availability of balanced feed, essential medicines and vaccines, Genetic
improvement of indigenous poultry as well as transfer (diffusion) of
improved technology in respect of hygienic rearing, sanitary measures and
profitable production system.
(c) Contributing author for preparation of training manual for profitable
raising of small holders (unit) poultry.

livestock through dissemination of generated/ adopted technologies and

Worked as Chairman of a team for framing a comprehensive ‘Animal Disease
Control Act (Draft) for Bangladesh’ inclusive of legal provisions for
infectious/contagious and communicable diseases; quarantine; slaughter;
export/import of domestic pet/companion animal and birds comparable to
those currently in force in the neighboring (SAARC) and developed countries.
Participated in Radio talks on a number of occasions in various aspects of
development, sanitary measures and conservation of livestock in Bangladesh
with brief discussions on disaster management.
Worked as Resource person in the National stake holders workshop for
formulation of a collaborative GOB (DLS) & ADB project (Livestock-III)

improvement, small holders poultry & dairy development, steerages for disease
control, management, nutrition and other quality production factors,
identification and provisions of effective demand driven financial assistance,
utilization, and preservation of livestock products and bi-products.
