Why you are doing this course:
The chemical engineering profession caters for South
Africa’s need for products and energy.
Today and into the future, chemical engineers will
continue to meet South Africa’s needs using their
process knowledge, their knowledge of fundamental
science, and their problem-solving skills.
You will be developing these attributes in this course.

OUTCOMES BASED EDUCATION
All outcomes, as measured by the criteria, need to be achieved
before you can proceed.
Example of a criterion: Your ability to use the correct equation to
calculate heat transfer rate in a system.
If you could not do this in the test, you will need to study more
and undergo an additional formative assessment on the criterion.
You will need to keep coming back for the formative assessments
untill you have mastered all the criteria of the course.
You will also need to repeat the test questions (corrective
assessments) until you get the right answer.
Only once you have mastered all the outcomes (also of the
projects) will you qualify to write the next test, and, at the end
of the course, to write the exam.
