Guidelines for Community Participation and High Visibility
Eligibility for NEF and FYF requires students to be highly visible and participatory in Norlin
activities – especially our academic activities. We’re looking for deep, ongoing involvement and
engagement in the community rather than just showing up for social events. Studying in the
lounge doesn’t qualify. These are just some of the ways to be visible in the Norlin community
and the more you do on an ongoing basis, the better your prospects. Visibility and participation
are not limited to these items and it’s up to you to track your own participation in both the Norlin
and SUEP community. Letters of interest should provide as much detail as possible so name
the cultural event or activity, say when you did it and so on. The same goes for any faculty
presentations, alumni events, etc.
