2. Associate or Full Professor in Petroleum Engineering
Nazarbayev University is a newly established institution of higher education in Astana,
Kazakhstan, It opened its doors in 2011, as a Western style, English- speaking university
with a predominantly foreign academic staff. It provides undergraduate programs in
Science and Technology, Social Sciences & Humanities and Engineering. The School of
Engineering features a 4-year BEng curriculum, with majors in Mechanical, Civil,
Electrical & Electronic and Chemical Engineering. University College London is the
partner university of the School. The School is investing heavily in its teaching and
learning infrastructure, has started graduate programs, and is finalizing a new research
facility. Ground breaking work is carried out for new teaching lab facilities. The
academic staff is rapidly increasing in numbers.
The Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for a full-time Full Professor
position in the area of Petroleum Engineering. The emphasis in the present position lies in
downstream processing, catalytic conversion technologies and separation processes.
In general modelling and simulation will be expected to form a substantial part of the
expertise of the incoming professor. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated
person with an excellent research potential, but who is also experienced and
motivated to teach in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the School.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. degree from a reputed university in Chemical or
Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field, with a proven background in teaching,
research and service. For an associate professor we require at least 5 years of full time
research and teaching experience. For a full professor this would be at least 10 years.
The candidate must have a proven track record in scholarly publications and funded
research. Experience in supervision of PhD students and research assistants is required.
The successful applicant will participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate
programs in Chemical Engineering and will be required to participate in the services to
the School.
