Course
Description
CSG will be focusing on educating school facility representatives and other
attendees on understanding the importance of having a cost management system
in place. The system will establish and maintain the budget throughout the design
phases with an emphasis on understanding the additional costs associated with
the use of new and updated technologies, updated processes and procedures,
and innovative strategies in learning. The understanding of the cost implications of
these new learning technologies and systems allow for the establishment of an
accurate budget at the beginning of the project. During design phases, realizing
the cost implications of additional scope and technology items will give the owner
the ability to make educated decisions throughout the design process. CSG will
focus on the following areas: Cost Control and Budget Monitoring, Cost Planning
& Budgeting, Cost Reconciliation with the Construction Manager during the design
phases, and Value Analysis/ Value Engineering. We will discuss the implications
of different delivery mechanisms, explain the component costing system,
demonstrate/explain how we assist with material choices/options, and show how a
cost manager can forecast the construction cost. The attendee will leave the
session with a greater knowledge and understanding of the importance of
monitoring the budget at every stage of the design.
Learning
Objectives
At the end of the this course, participants will be able to:
1.
Understand the importance of having a cost management system in place.
1.
Understand the additional costs associated with the use of new and
updated technologies, updated processes and procedures, and innovative
strategies in learning.
1.
Understand the cost implications during design phases, realizing the cost
implications of additional scope and technology items to allow the owner
to make educated decisions throughout the design process.
1.
Discuss the implications of different delivery methods, explain the
component costing system, demonstrate/explain how the estimator assists
with material choices/options, and show how a cost manager can
accurately forecast the construction cost of a project during all design
phases.
