Athletic Trainer
Gould Academy, an independent boarding school of approximately 250 boys and girls,
grades 9-PG, in Bethel, Maine, is seeking a full time certified Athletic Trainer to begin
in the Fall 2017. Current Gould Academy students come from 20 countries. With
Gould’s three season athletic programs, which include a dynamic collection of onsnow offerings; the strongest candidates will have expertise in evaluation and
treatment of injuries, following protocols, game coverage, injury prevention, fitness
and nutrition consultation, and strength and conditioning coaching. This position
reports to the Director of Health Services but requires a close working relationship
with our Athletic Director as well. Duties may also include teaching a course on
Sports Management, advising up to 8 students, and periodic evening and weekend
duty.
Position Responsibilities:

Develop plans for providing athletic health care at interscholastic athletic events.
Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training room.
Maintain records as set forth in detailed job description.
Provide immediate care of athletic injuries and refer the athlete to medical facilities
when necessary.
Provide for the prevention of athletic injuries through the application of protective
tapings, wraps and braces and assist in the design of practices to help reduce the
incidence of injury.
Assess, monitor, refer, and follow-up with athletes who are suspected of sustaining
concussions or other traumatic brain injuries; coordination of concussion management
protocol in partnership with the Director of Health Services.
Maintains an open channel of communication with coaches, parents, physicians.
Abide by industry confidentiality (FERPA & HIPAA) standards regarding private medical
information and student care.

NATA-BOC Certified & eligible for Maine licensure.
CSCS or PES is preferred.
Master’s Degree preferred.
Enjoys working with adolescents.
Possess excellent communications skills.

Warm demeanor and comfort speaking professionally to students and their parents.
