Tips and Tricks Power Point
True Touch Complexion Products
What is your coverage preference?
Helpful Makeup Application Tips
• Remember: light brings forward, dark takes back.
• Shading creates illusion in evening makeup, optimizing features.
• Blending is very important in creating a natural appearance.
Blending is effortless with True Touch.
• Always use concealer to help disguise imperfections or dark undereye circles.
• Contouring is using a darker shade of foundation, blusher, brunette
brow liner or concealer to help correct, contour, or define
the shape of the face, nose, eyes, and cheekbones.
• Highlighting is using a lighter shade of eye shadow, blusher, or
concealer to enhance and bring forward cheeks, eyes, and browbone area.
Helpful Makeup Application Tips (cont.)
• To enhance the wear of your eyeliner, lightly dust over lined area
with a similar color eye shadow using an angled brush.
• To create a timeless look, go for dramatic eyes or lips, but not both.
• Apply Foundation Primer to eyelids prior to applying eye shadow to
help beautify and extend color.
• Finding the correct foundation is most important. After that, warm or
cool doesn’t matter. Just don’t blend warm and cool colors in the
same makeup application.
• Try applying concealer under eyes after applying foundation, and
blend well.
Solving the Most Common Beauty Issues
Issue: Little or no definition to cheekbones
• Solution: Apply darker cheek color to hollow of cheeks to
slim them.
• Add lighter blush shade along top of cheekbone. Apply
lighter blush in circular motion to apples of cheeks while
smiling to create a youthful flush.
Issue: Thin or gaunt-looking cheeks
• Solution: Use a lighter cheek color along top of cheekbone
and apply to apples of cheeks while smiling to create a
plumper, younger look. Do not contour hollows of cheeks.
Issue: Jawline too wide or strong
• Solution: Apply darker shade blush, foundation, brunette
brow liner, or concealer along the outside bottom of
jawline, blend in well, and lightly re-apply the True Touch
Foundation of your choice.
Solving the Most Common Beauty Issues (cont.)
Issue: Nose too broad
• Solution: Apply darker shade blush,
foundation, brunette brow liner, or
concealer color along each side of the bridge
of the nose, blend in well, and lightly re-apply
your favorite True Touch Foundation.
Issue: Nose too short
• Solution: Apply lighter shade of foundation
along the length of the bridge of nose, and
blend in.
Issue: Nose too long
• Solution: Apply darker foundation, brunette
brow liner, or concealer to the tip of the
nose and blend in well. Lightly re-apply your
favorite True Touch Foundation.
About Eyes
For wider, more open eyes
• Apply eyeliner close to lash line
from the outer to the inner corner.
• Continue under the lower lashes.
• Do not line inside of the lower lid,
as this closes in a small eye.
To correct wide-set eyes:
• Apply eye pencil from center of
upper and lower lid to inner
corners of the eye.
To correct close-set eyes
• Apply eye pencil to upper and
lower lid from center to outer
corner of eye.
About Eyes (continued)
For more dramatic eyes
• Add darker liner to upper and lower lids, and
smudge to create a smokey look.
• Almond-shaped eyes look wonderful when liner
color is added to the inside of the lower lid.
• Add eyeliner after eye shadow, and smudge with
eye shadow brush to set look.
For more alert eyes
• Lining only upper lids draws tired eyes upward,
creating the illusion of alertness and youth. Apply
liner beginning at inside corner of upper lid,
thickening the line while moving outward. When
creating this effect, do not apply mascara to
lower lashes.
About Brows
• Brows frame the eye.
• Inner brows should begin at
inside corner of eye.
• Brow should peak softly at a 45
degree angle over the eyes.
• Brow should taper out
gradually to a thin but soft point.
• Brow end should extend beyond
outer corner of the eye.
• Always pluck brow hairs in the
direction they are growing.
About Brows (continued)
How to fill in brows for a finished look:
• With brow pencil, start at fullest part of brow.
• Shade along edge with very light, feathery strokes, filling in
sparse areas.
• Eyebrow should be fullest close to the bridge of the nose, ascending
to soft peak and tapering down at the end.
• Optional finish: With brow wand, apply Keratonics Shaping Gel in an
upward motion, lifting brow hairs for a freshly groomed look.
About Lips
• Lip gloss makes lips look immediately plumper and younger looking.
• Use lip gloss without lip liner to enhance the appearance of plumpness.
• Lighter, creamier lip colors make lips look more abundant and young.
• Add a touch of light lip gloss with dark lipstick to center of upper and
lower lip to enhance fullness.
• To make lip color last longer, fill in entire lip with lip pencil. Follow with
lipstick or lip gloss.
About Lips (continued)
For ideal lips:
• Position lip liner pencil on center natural line of upper lip.
• Draw a subtle “v” shape in the middle of mouth.
• Round the peaks of the “v” and extend to outer corners of mouth.
• Line bottom lip from corner to corner.
• Add lipstick.
About Lips (continued)
To correct absence of cupid’s bow:
• Using lip liner, draw a subtle “v” shape in middle of upper lip.
• Apply lip liner to rest of the lips, and apply lipstick.
About Lips (continued)
To thicken a thin upper lip:
• Using lip liner, line just above the natural upper lip line.
• Do not apply heavily to lower lip.
• Do not use dark lip color.
About Lips (continued)
For a fuller look:
• Line lips just outside natural lip line,
and lightly fill in to blend into natural
lip color.
• Apply lighter, creamier shade to
center of lips.
• Apply light color lip gloss.
To thin fuller lips:
• Apply the lip liner pencil just inside
the natural line of the lips, and use
a darker shade lipstick to fill in
the center.
About Brushes
Applicators are included with each True Touch cosmetic
product; however:
• Getting a good brush set is very important
• For Loose Powders/Mineral Foundations—
- Use a large soft/bushy bristled brush with
slightly flat top for gentle all-over application.
• For Lips—
- Use a standard small flat brush with
pointed tip
• For Blush—
- Use a medium, soft-bristled, rounded-end
brush for overall color and highlight color.
- Use same brush at a slight angle for
contouring cheek hollow
About Brushes (continued)
• For Eye Shadow—
- Use a small, soft-bristled, flat brush with
slightly rounded edges for all-over color
and highlight color.
- Use a smaller, soft-bristled, more
pointed, round-tip brush for crease colors
and for lower lash line.
• For Brows—
- Use an angled, flat brush with short
stiff bristles.
- Optional mascara wand is great for
brushing up hairs for a fresh look.
