CPCC Summer Theatre Recognized at 5th Annual Metrolina Awards Ceremony
The Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Drama Department is pleased to announce
that its Summer Theatre Series received six awards during the 2008 Metrolina Theatre Awards
(MTA) on September 14. Held at the McGlohon Theatre in Spirit Square, the ceremony
celebrated the best in regional theatre for the previous 2007-2008 season.
Each year, MTA organizes more than 50 peer reviewers to attend over 100 shows, nominating
and voting for the best theatrical talent seen on local and regional stages. CPCC won six of the
17 awards listed under the musical category. The following CPCC Drama members were
recognized for their outstanding work:
Best Musical Production: “Crazy for You”
Best Musical Performance by a Lead Actor – Male: Nic Bryan (Bobby Child), “Crazy for You”
Best Musical Performance by a Lead Actor – Female: Susan Roberts Knowlson (Annie
Oakley), “Annie Get Your Gun”
Best Choreography, Musical: Eddie Mabry, “Crazy for You”
Best Musical Direction: Drina Keen, “Crazy for You”
Best Costume Design, Musical: Robert Croghan, “Crazy for You”

their peers,” said Tom Hollis, chair of the Arts & Communication Division at CPCC. “CPCC is
pleased to serve as a valued community asset, bringing the very best in the arts and theatre
entertainment to the Queen City.”
