CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE COACH
Volleyball Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified volleyball coaches for the position of Coach
of the National Women’s Volleyball Centre of Excellence to be based at the AIS Canberra from the beginning of 2017.
The Centre of Excellence is a new full time program for Australia’s most talented volleyball players who wish to pursue a
high performance career in volleyball, with interest in playing professionally overseas, or attending quality Volleyball
Programs at US colleges, leading into the Volleyroos, the senior national team.
The Centre of Excellence is aimed at players from school leaver age up to Volleyroos level. However, in 2017, the first
year of the program, current Volleyroos players who have aspirations for professional contracts will be welcome to apply for
the program as well. The Coach will take a leading role in the selection of athletes for the program.
Candidates for the Coach position should be:

Experienced in indoor volleyball at a high level – national or international, with experience in coaching women preferred
-
Accredited under the VA Coach Accreditation System, or equivalent qualifications
-
Available to work full time, from January 2017, as well as available for appointment to national teams, as appropriate
(senior or Under 23)

Strong in individual athlete skill development
-
Committed to the holistic development of athletes, who are undertaking full time training together with study or work
requirements
-
Conversant with current high performance sports science and medicine, and strength and conditioning regimes

Ready to lead the Centre of Excellence team in domestic competition, at State level and AVL
-
Ready to work in close collaboration with the existing Men ‘s Volleyball Centre of Excellence at the AIS, and with the
Women Volleyroos coaching staff
-
Open to professional development as a full time high performance coach
-
Prepared to undertake the management tasks which are part of being the coach of a full time high performance
program
