Box 1420 Lumberton, NC 28359 VACANCY: EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Re-Advertisement Program Director – Respiratory Therapy (12-month position) REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Qualifications – Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); a current, valid license by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board [NCRCB] to function as a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner; minimum of four (4) calendar years of the equivalent of full time clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least two (4) years in clinical respiratory care; minimum of (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor; and a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications – Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); a current, valid license by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board [NCRCB] to function as a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner; minimum of four (6) calendar years of the equivalent of full time clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least six (6) years in clinical respiratory care; minimum of (2) years’ experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor); and a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Qualified candidates must be knowledgeable of Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC) programmatic standards and provide evidence of active participation in NCSRC [North Carolina Society of Respiratory Care]. Qualified candidates must possess excellent computer skills; demonstrate evidence of flexibility and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see issues from multiple perspectives; and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities: Assure the program meets standards established by the institution and CoARC by planning, implementing and continuously evaluating program outcomes and results for program improvement Maintain supportive relationships with clinical education affiliates and other academic programs at the institution Assign, supervise and evaluate all full and part-time program faculty Prepare and process course offerings and class schedules that meet program requirements and the needs of students Ensure instructional resources are being utilized efficiently and effectively Teach a minimum of 12 to 15 contact hours per semester Perform assessments of respiratory therapy students’ cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills; Advise and register students appropriately; Communicate effectively in both the educational and health care settings; Implement and assess identified program and institutional student learning outcomes that support institutional effectiveness and programmatic accreditation Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development and participate in professional organizations; Serve on department and college committees as requested; Assist Educational Services in institutional and programmatic accreditation Perform other duties as assigned SALARY: Salary is commensurate with academic credential and years of related work experience.
