Is aware that the following limitations apply to all pregnancy hCG tests
run on the analyser:
-
The hCG pregnancy kit is an indicator of possible pregnancy.
There are limitations to the assay and results should be
interpreted in line with clinical and other laboratory data.
-
Elevated hCG levels can be caused by other conditions such
as trophoblastic disease, and nontrophoblastic neoplasms.
-
Due to the lag between conception and appearance of hCG
in the urine, it is possible to miss a pregnancy. Negative
results in a patient suspected of being pregnant should be
repeated 2-3 days later.
-
Patients on antibody therapy may produce invalid results.
-
If a qualitative interpretation is inconsistent with clinical
evidence contact the laboratory.
Understands that any member of staff not trained by an authorised trainer
[with full documentation] must NOT use the analyser
Knows about the Standard operating Procedure, and will follow the correct
procedure
