Music at St Barnabas Celebrating Women Composers Violinist Miriam Kramer, Cellist Mayda Narvey and pianist Charis Hanning explore the work of women composers from the 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen to contemporary American composer Deborah Netanel. Thursday 26th May, 7.30pm The evening also includes readings by women writers Tickets available on the door at £10 (£8 for seniors, £5 for throughout the ages. under 16s). Music at St Barnabas Upcoming concerts A Musical Smorgasbord: Music, Landscape and Myth in Scandinavia (Sat 4th June, 7.30PM) The Danish soprano Lene Sahlholdt joins cellist Mayda Narvey and pianist Horacio Lopez Redondo in a programme of music by Scandinavian composers from Grieg to Sibelius. With author Tom Blass reading from his book, The Naked Shore. To Warm Each Troubled Heart (Sun 10th July, 6.00PM) Oboist Julia White, cellist Mayda Narvey and guitarist Matthew Sear in an intimate and beguiling programme of Baroque and Spanish music with readings by Darris Golinski reflecting on the power of music to heal and restore. Jazz For a Summer Evening (Fri 5th August, time TBC) Soprano Lene Sahlhodt and jazz pianist Chad Lelong join cellist Mayda Narvey in a summer cabaret of jazz, both standard and rather off the beaten track. With readings by Jazz FM presenter / performer and ‘freelance waster’, Bob Sinfield. The evening also includes readings by women writers throughout the ages.
