Soften beard with warm, wet
cloth
Encourage resident to do as
much as possible
Apply shaving cream
Shave in the direction of the
hair growth
Mustaches and Beards:
Hold the skin taut
Apply after shave

Prevents infection, injury and
odors
Feet are easily injured and infected
Poor circulation prolongs healing
Gangrene and amputations are serious
complications
Nails are easier to trim after soaking or
bathing
