THE UNVERSITY OF HONG KONG DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY CAROL YU CENTRE FOR INFECTION Certificate in Infectious Diseases You are invited to join a newly launched Certificate in Infectious Diseases. It is a 2-year part-time course covering the following contents: Clinical approach to bedside problems, understanding of pathogenic microbes, and reaction of the host in pathogenesis of infectious diseases; Laboratory resources used to solve problems arising at the bedside; Epidemiological approach to tackle outbreaks of infectious diseases Course Themes: Course 1: Infectious disease update and emerging infections Course 2: Infectious disease emergencies, indwelling device and surgical infections Course 3: Common problems in infectious diseases Course 4: Radiology and radionuclide imaging in ID; genitourinary medicine and HIV problems Course 5: Surprises in daily medical practice: tropical diseases in the developed world Course 6: Infections in the immunocompromised hosts and common infective problems in general practice Course Fee: HK$1,000 per course (HK$5,400 for 6 courses) You can take any one or more of the above courses. CME / CNE Points: CME / CNE points will be awarded on completion of the course. Continuous Assessment: Performance of six quizzes will constitute the basis for assessment.
