HEALTH Dr. Robert Goldman elected to The Angle Society of Orthodontists May 24, 2009 Dr. Robert Goldman has been honored with an invitation for membership to the most prestigious organization in the field of orthodontics, The Edward H. Angle Society at its recent North Atlantic Component meeting. The EHASO is an international society which adheres to the founding traditions of Dr. Edward Angle’s goals of excellence and progress in the art and science of orthodontics. Membership is drawn from the entire community of orthodontists and consists of men and women identified as able and willing contributors to the advancement of orthodontics. At a recent meeting of the North Atlantic Component of The Angle Society, Dr. Goldman presented a paper to the membership based his research on an evaluation of facial horizontal reference lines. His research included photographing people’s faces and constructing reference lines through the eyes, the ears and the plane of their bite on a computer image. The angles that the lines made to a vertical reference line were measured and compared to see how significant they were and how useful they are in evaluating symmetry of people’s faces and teeth. As a result of the research he conducted and the patients he has treated, Dr. Goldman was elected to membership to the Angle Society. “Being honored with an invitation to The Angle Society is most certainly a high point of my career and a humbling experience. I found this research challenging and exciting as it may lead to a greater understanding of the facial structure and its impact on teeth. I have always been strongly dedicated and committed to my profession and my patients and plan to continue for many years to come,” stated Dr. Robert Goldman. The Angle Society presently has over 620 members (approximately five percent of North American orthodontists and more than 70 orthodontists from countries outside North America) in seven Component Societies. Each Component meets regularly for scientific sessions and for fellowship. The seven Components convene every other year for an International Biennial meeting, providing an opportunity for the entire membership to study and discuss some of the most important orthodontic advances from that period.
