CARTER CREATES ORTHODONTIC FOUNDATION
(AUGUSTA, GEORGIA) Residents of the CSRA now have another reason to smile.
Dr. David Carter, of Carter Orthodontics, announced his intent to file for non-profit status for the
recently formed Smile For A Lifetime, Inc. Dr. Carter created the foundation to provide braces
at no cost to individuals who cannot afford them in the CSRA.
“The mission of Smile For A Lifetime Foundation is to create self-confidence, inspire hope
and change the lives of children in our community in a dramatic way,” Carter explains. “The gift
of a smile can do all this for a deserving, under-served individual who, in turn, can use this gift to
better themselves and our community”, he continued.
Beginning in the first year, the foundation will award two sets of braces and orthodontic
treatments per month totaling twenty-four individuals served who would not otherwise have

“Dr. David”, as he is known to his patients, is a graduate of Westminster High School in
Augusta, the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. He
also received his certificate of orthodontics from MCG. He holds dual appointments as associate
clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontics, MCG School of Dentistry and the
Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, MCG School of Medicine.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists, a member of the American
Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Southern Association of
Orthodontists and the Eastern District Dental Society. He was also elected as a fellow in the
World Federation of Orthodontists. He lectures nationally and internationally on practice
efficiency and modern orthodontic techniques, and is a member of the Schulman Study Group,
which is a nationally recognized study group of the country’s top orthodontic practices. He is
married to the former Linda Franks of Hilton Head Island, S.C. They have two sons, Brian and
John.
