The ending ray is called the terminal ray. x A positive angle in standard position rotates counterclockwise. A negative angle in standard position rotates clockwise. For an angle which is drawn in standard position, the reference angle is the positive (acute) angle formed by the terminal side of the angle and the nearest x-axis.
