Module 2 Preparing for Data Submission 6 Preparing for Data Submission: Overview Module 2 provides an overview of the following: • Accessing the DPCC Portal • Data Standard References and Submission Templates • Identifying the associated DPCC Project Identifier with the submission data • Selecting a Submission Method: • Bulk Submission • Interactive Submission 7 Accessing the DPCC Portal • DPCC Portal URL: http://dpcc.niaidceirs.org/ • Center Coordinators and Data Managers have existing DPCC Portal access • New users can request access via the Request Access link located on the login page of the DPCC Portal • Email [email protected] for forgotten usernames and passwords • New usernames and/or passwords are provided via email and cannot be provided over the phone 8 Requesting a New User Account: Step 1 1 Go to the DPCC Portal URL: http://dpcc.niaidceirs.org Click Request Access 9 Requesting a New User Account: Step 2 • Complete the Access Request Form 2 10 Requesting a New User Account: Steps 3 & 4 • Enter the CAPTCHA code and click Submit Request 3 • Center Coordinators provide DPCC with approval to create requested user accounts 4 Once approved, login here: http://dpcc.niaidceirs.org/ 11 Accessing Data Standard References and Submission Templates To review the Data Standard Reference and download Submission Templates, navigate to the Data Standards page by selecting Data Standards under the Help tab on the DPCC Portal 12 Data Standards Page • The Data Standards page contains a Standard Reference PDF and CSV Submission Template under each data type 13 Data Standards Page: Submission Types • Surveillance • Reagents • Animal Surveillance • Antibody Reagent • Human Surveillance • Plasmid Reagent • Protein Reagent • Derived Analysis • Virus Reagent Frequently check the Data Standards page for the recent version of Data Standard References • Serological Data • Viral Isolate Data • Sequence Data • Sequencing • Sequencing Request • SRA Run • SRA Analysis • Project Registration • BioProject Registration 14 Data Standards Page: Data Dictionaries The following Data Dictionaries are included on Data Standards page 15 Data Standard References and Submission Templates • Standard References are in PDF format and serve as guides for each data type the DPCC accepts; containing formatting and standard explanations • Submission Templates in CSV format and are the standard template files used for data submission entry NOTE: Do not make changes to the CSV template file headers 16 Identifying the Project Identifier: Step 1 • Every submission must be associated with one Project Identifier Code (i.e. Project_Identifier) • Project Identifiers are assigned by NIAID and the DPPCC • Data will not be accepted without a Project Identifier • To locate your Project Identifier, follow steps 1 through 3 Click Center Projects under the Resources tab on the DPCC Portal 1 17 Identifying the Project Identifier: Step 2 2 • View the Project Identifier column 18 . Identifying the Project Identifier: Step 3 3 • Click the green icon to expand the row to view more details under the Center Project • Click the red icon to return to the condensed view of the table 19 Selecting a Submission Method: Bulk or Interactive - Summary Bulk Submission Interactive Submission • Allows submission of 50 samples or more • Limited to submission of 50 samples or less • Automatically validates and submits data to the DPCC • Provides instant validation • Summarizes errors via email • Identifies specific errors • Allows editing and correcting of errors directly from the Interactive Submission Page Both methods follow the same data requirements listed within the Data Standard References 20 Selecting a Submission Method: Bulk or Interactive - Detailed Bulk Submission Best for Web interface options Requirements Validation process and correcting errors Interactive Submission • Submitting more than 50 samples at a time • Receiving processing status and errors via email notification • Submitting a small number of samples (50 or less) • Catching errors while entering data • Opportunity to validate data before submitting • Drag and drop • Choose file(s) to upload • Single Sample • Multiple Samples (Web Form) • Multiple Samples (CSV Template) • Upload in bulk with any number of samples • Data must follow the guidelines of the Data Standard References • Accepts only .CSV or .ZIP files • Enter and edit single or multiple samples in a web form or CSV template • Data must follow the guidelines of the Data Standard References • Automatically validation; only data without errors are submitted to the DPCC • Errors are reported via an email notification containing the data with errors and a detailed report of the specific errors • Email notification sent for successful submissions • Validation process is an optional step before submitting data • Correct errors immediately in the Interactive Submission web form • All errors must be addressed before data can be submitted • Email notification sent for successful submissions 21
