AP-C Daily Assessments 2009 The daily assessments are conducted under timed conditions. You may use the equation sheet for the FR section(s). If you wish to use the equation sheet for the MC section, you forfeit a 5% daily bonus. If you have an excused absence and miss one or more of the assessments, you must make them up. Preferably this makeup will occur prior to the AP Physics exams on Monday, May 11th. As an AP-C student, you are required to take both the AP-C: Mechanics and the AP-C: Electricity & Magnetism exams. Tuesday, April 28th: MC: Kinematics, momentum, F(t) from v(t), boat problem, average acceleration, center-of-mass, projectile motion FR: impulse, projectile motion Thursday, April 30th: MC (longer): kinematics with a(t), figure skater, angular momentum, free-fall, a(t) from v(t), x(t) from v(t), electric potential and KE, energy cons., work-energy thm., finding E(y) from V(x,y), SHM, point charges, work to assemble point charges, fields and potentials of spherical conductors, magnetic forces, magnetic fields, equipotential lines and electric fields FR: rotational inertia of rod and hoop, yo-yo problem, rotational kinematics Friday, May 1st: MC: gravitational force, rolling ball (on incline) with rotational inertia (“moment of inertia”), orbital motion, circular motion, relationship of Fnet, a, and v vectors, sinusoidal motion – period and instantaneous speed, forces (FBD and 3rd law), mass on spring and SHM FR: electric forces, FBD, charged conducting sphere brought near point charge, Gauss’ law to find E-field around charged tube, work to assemble charges Monday, May 4th: MC: torque, F(x) from U(x), projectile motion, springs and SHM, orbital motion, potential energy of point charges, E-field around long charged rod, electric flux, E-field surrounding concentric charged spheres, electric forces and FBD FR (two choices): Choice 1: collision of extended discreet bodies in free-fall, energy and momentum, angular momentum, center-of-mass motion; Choice 2: connected blocks (FBD) problem with friction Tuesday, May 5th: MC: electric flux, charged concentric spheres, charge distribution on conductor near point charge, RC circuit, circuits, resistance of wire FR: sand falling into railroad car – momentum, energy, forces, v(t) Thursday, May 7th: MC: RL circuit, induced voltage (Faraday’s law), magnetic field due to short wire segments, magnetic field inside wire with current, magnetic field at center of loop, RC circuit, Maxwell’s equations, LC circuit FR: (two problems): cylindrically symmetric charge – use Gauss’ law to derive E-field, equipotential lines inside/outside cylinder, potential around cylinder, work required to move point charge between two points in field, E(r) given a charge density (r), magnetic field B(z) and dropped ring, magnetic flux, induced current, power dissipated, magnetic force on current
