Edie Joyce
Edie Joyce received her B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from
Miami University and Secondary Education Certification from Hiram College.
She is currently teaching Language Arts 6th, 7th, and 8th along with 8th grade
Religion and homeroom.
A strong advocate for helping emergent writers find and develop their voice as
they define and refine their own identities, she involves her students in a
variety of reading and writing tasks that engage the student on many levels
including critical thinking, value-based judgment, and creative expression. Her
degrees (double major in literature and writing) help to keep the content area
high and prepare our Junior High students for the curriculum in the High School
of their choice.
Edie is most interested in involving her student in the Socratic Method, Socratic
Seminars, Journaling, Writing Workshops and Writing Circles. She enjoys
participating in Student Council, St. Francis de Sales Writing and Journalism
Club.
Edie has been teaching at St. Mary School for 3 years and is mother to John18,
Charlie 16, and Audrey 13.
