The Kitchen Theatre @ Poole Park
Take one of the South’s most beautiful seaside parks; transform a
stunning restaurant into an indoor/outdoor theatre; add
experienced professional musical theatre performers; and you
have created a dinner theatre-in-the-round storytelling
experience for the south coast. This innovative concept will
connect commercial brands to five valuable initiatives:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
An internationally recognised arts event in an area that has low arts activity related to population size
Experienced London’s West End talent who live in our area, dedicated to working with new talent
High impact entertainment designed for business, with local economic development in mind
New employment opportunities and work experience for our young local talent
Community outreach programmes that will inspire Dorset citizens to engage
The Kitchen Theatre has been a year in development and will launch during this year’s prestigious
European Maritime Festival in May. We have brought together an established national writer, a
celebrity musical composer, five experienced musical theatre actors, six extraordinary musicians, working
alongside students from our Universities, colleges and a dance school to create a magical dinner theatre
experience…plus an Outreach Festival Programme for our local community.
The In-Diners [100 covers] are an audience who are celebrating a business event or a special family treat
who opt for full dining experience. The Al-Frescos [190 covers] are the more adventurous audience
who opt for food menu served under the cover and warmth of the outdoor seating arena.
Telescope. This is a truly Galactic Experience that explores the maritime history of
Poole through the eyes of interplanetary visitors who resemble The Edwardian past
meeting the science future…yes, we are talking Steam Punk space travellers.
Three Seasons a Year: The Christmas Bar Humbug Experience,
a 3-week dinner theatre extravaganza, ideal for a great staff outing
event; The Poole Summer Romp Experience, a four-week festival of
entertainment; and The New Writing Festival each May, which
celebrates the work of regional new playwrights, stand-ups and
composers. Any profits will create an investment fund to commission
new writing for this event.
Commercial Partnership: The annual audience will be in the region of 16,240 people, many of whom will
attend as part of their business networking or management engagement events. The outreach
programme in Dorset will experienced by a further 12,000 people. The project will have the local
newspapers and radio stations as Media Partners and the TV companies have already expressed an
interest in the first event. Three types of engagement are available.
