Our Learning Journey During Diversity Week we learned Bollywood style dancing, visited a Hindu Temple and produced art inspired by one of India’s leading international artists. Here’s a quick review of our journey. My favourite part of the Hindu Temple was when … The priest prayed and put the flour powder on our heads. (Thomas) The priest blessed us. (Ryan) We could look around the temple at the different gods. (Amber) We learned about all the different gods and some were Rama and Sita. (Rhiannan) Looking at the black granite stone temples (Anthony). Getting to know the gods. (Connor) We got to look at all of the different gods. (Sophie) The priest blessed us. (Joel) I saw a goat on one of the temples. (James) We got to explore. (Adam) We got to see the gods. (Ella and Ava) Smelling all of the delicious smells. (Alex J) We first went in and saw all of the bright colours. (Ben) Got to see the statues. (Lauren) We got to go around and look at the statues and got blessed by the priest. (Stella) We saw the golden gods. (Teigan) We have learned that… Diwali is on the 10th November this year and it is celebrated with fireworks. (Amber) Hinduism is a religion and Diwali is the festival of light. (Rhiannan) Ganesh is the god with ten hands and he helps Hindus overcome problems. (Ben) There are three main gods and all of them have got a symbol of what type of god they are (like when you need help from the destroyer of evil). (Stella) Hinduism is one of the oldest religions going. (Sophie) Diwali is the celebration of light; it’s celebrated because Rama defeated Ravanna, the ten-headed king. (Adam) Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu are the three main Hindu gods. (Ryan) Ganesh has a hidden messenger; he faces Ganesh unlike the other one who faces away. (Ben) People follow different religions. (Rhiannan) Even though different religions might appear strange, respect them no matter what! (Amber) The three gods each had a wife. One showed knowledge, one strength and one wealth. (Stella).
