St Augustine’s Catholic Voluntary Academy Best Value Statement 2015-16 The accounting officer of St Augustine’s Catholic Academy is responsible and accountable for ensuring that the Academy delivers good value in the use of public resources. We are aware of ‘A Guide to Academy Value for Money Statements’ published by the Education Funding Agency and understand that value for money refers to the educational and wider societal outcomes achieved in return for the taxpayer resources received. St Augustine’s provides remarkable value for money. We use all available resources to rigorously promote and sustain a culture of high expectation, rapid progress and outstanding achievement for all pupils. We set out below how we have ensured that the academy’s use of its resources have provided good value for money during the academic year. What Is Best Value? Directors will apply the principles of the 'four Cs': Challenge - Why, how and by whom is a service provided? Do we still need it? Can it be delivered differently? What do different stakeholders want? Compare - How does the school’s performance compare with other schools? How does the academy compare to other local schools? How does it compare to other similar academies nationally? Consult - How does the academy seek the views of all its stakeholders? What mechanisms are in place for the academy to achieve a balance and considered view of all its stakeholders? Compete - How does the academy secure efficient and effective services? Is the academy receiving what it requires to a high enough standard and at a competitive price?
