Tris buffered saline
Tris buffered saline (TBS) is used for any number of buffering/washing situations, most
notably during western blots.

TBS is made up as follows:
o 50 mM Tris
o 150 mM NaCl
o Adjust pH to 7.5 with HCl
TBS can also have Tween 20 added to it to make TBST, which is used in the washing of
membranes for western blots
 To make TBST:
o Add 1:1000 v/v Tween 20 to TBS
o E.g. add 1 ml Tween 20 to 1 l TBS
