PROFESSOR JUDYTH SACHS PARTICIPATION PRIZE TO BE AWARDED FOR STUDENT PARTICIPATION DURING THE 2012 ACADEMIC YEAR As the third pillar of the undergraduate curriculum, PACE (Participation and Community Engagement) is a key component of the University's strategic direction, emphasising the University's commitment to excellence in research, learning and teaching, and community engagement. Participation units provide an academic framework through which students can engage with the community in a range of activities, learn through participation, develop their capabilities and build skills that employers value. Partner organisations in the community also benefit from PACE, as Participation activities are designed with their needs in mind. The annual “Professor Judyth Sachs Participation Prizes” have been established by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Provost) to reward student/s for outstanding Participation achievement. One prize to the value of $1,0001 will be awarded in each Faculty per year. The Prizes are very prestigious, and will not be awarded if candidates are not considered to be of sufficient merit. Recipients will also have the Prizes recorded on their Academic Transcript and Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA To be eligible for a Professor Judyth Sachs Participation Prize, a student (or group of students) must have undertaken an approved Participation Activity as part of an accredited Participation Unit in which they were enrolled in the calendar year to which the Prize applies (see attached for List of Participation Units for 2012). For 2012, the current round of Prizes, this includes Participation units that ran in Session 1 2012, Session 2 2012, the Winter Vacation 2012, and Session 3 2012-13.
