The ABB Global Business Services – Information Systems organization (GBS
IS) is a unique unit working on infrastructure services and software
development which supports business processes of ABB across the world.
Everyday a team of talented developers, infrastructure experts, project
managers and other specialists works on advanced IT solutions which improve
efficiency of our company.
Joining the ABB IS Infosec Organization, you will have the opportunity to work
in a fast-paced, international environment, solve complex problems and grow
together with the rapidly developing business.
Currently we are looking for candidates for a position of Global Lead Architect
for Information Security Domains to join our team. The major focus of the role
will be to represent the IS architectural authority for all Information Security
architecture domains.
You will be accountable for planning, driving and communicating the IS solution
architecture roadmap and strategy for all Information Security architecture
domains; accountable for ensuring that all IS solution designs and components
fit together from a business and technical perspective; accountable for ensuring
that ABB takes advantage of new technologies in the Information Security
domain.
Responsible to drive the ABB IS Strategy for the Information Security
architecture domains and related IS solutions and IS services portfolios.
Supervise the relevant Global IS Domain Security (Technical Controls)
Architects and the Tools Group.

Tasks
Architect#
- Is responsible to translate application and technology requirements into a portfolio of adequate IS solutions fitting the Information
Security domains;
- Is involved in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that steer the selection, development, implementation and use
of IS solutions and IS applications within the company;
- Supervises and facilitates the evaluation and selection of appropriate IS solutions and IS applications for all Information Security
domains;
- Supervises or consults on IS solution architecture implementation and modification activities, particularly for new and/or
core/common Information Security solutions;
- Challenges the IS architecture and IS service landscape regarding content and process and makes recommendations for
improvements;
- Interfaces with the Enterprise Architecture Function to ensure adherence of IS solutions and applications to Information Security
principles, policies and standards.
Best practice & Knowledge sharing#
- Proactively analyses IS technology industry and market trends, and evaluates their potential impact on ABB;
- Keeps knowledge up to date regarding new and emerging processes, IS technology and IS industry practices, bringing learning into
ABB to shape future IS architecture and the IS strategic direction;
- Enables the Group to invest in the right and appropriate IT and Information Security solutions which help to standardize the IS
environment, reduce operational cost and create value for the business.
IS Services#
- Support the analysis of the current IS environment to detect deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement;
- Understands and applies business economic considerations to the (development of) target IS solution architecture;
- Is responsible to translate business process specifications to shape IT solution and architectural requirements;
- Responsible to secure full inter-operability between the various business processes architectural domains as well as the other
enterprise architecture domains (e.g. infrastructure, workplace, mobility, etc.).
Processes#
- Major contributor to development, implementation and adherence to IS architecture process within ABB;
- Is responsible to drive innovation in the Information Security architecture area.
Governance
- Drives the Information Security Architecture strategy and advises the IS Council about suitable IS solutions and IS roadmaps;
- Commits and contributes to common result oriented collaboration with the various business processes IS architectural domains as
well as the various enterprise architecture domains;
- For assigned tasks, executes all actions in IS processes according to agreed RACIs or LEC specification.
Incident, Change or Project#
- Consults and gives advice regarding any incident, change or project which might benefit from or has, or might have, a major impact
on the Information Security architecture domain.
IS Strategy#
- Designs and leads the implementation of an Information Security Architecture and Life Cycle Roadmap for the Information Security
domain based on business requirements and IS strategies, as well as to rectify opportunities, gaps and pain points within the current
landscape;
- Enables the Group to invest in the right and appropriate IS solutions which help to standardize the IS environment, reduce
operational cost and create value for the business;
- Drives innovation in the Information Security architecture;
- Ensures full inter-operability between the various business/application/infrastructure domains as well as the Information Security
domains.
Stakeholder Management#

- Drives the enterprise architecture process, its outcome and ongoing results by working closely together with the IS Process Owners,
Business Partners and Domain Delivery Managers and 3rd-party IS suppliers regarding their expectations, business and technical
requirements, and in accordance with GF-IS policies and standards, IS procedures and IS guidelines;
- Works closely together with all stakeholders regarding expectation management and business and technical requirements.
People Leadership and Development
- Guides and coordinates the Security Architecture Domain (Technical Controls) Architects to ensure consensus based enterprise
solutions that are aligned with the Information Security Architecture and Life Cycle Roadmap;
- Leads the Information Security Architecture Council;
- As the case may be manages, coaches and trains lower level IS Architects of the authority area and is accountable for ensuring
agreed targets, timeframes, budget and quality requirements are met;
- Manages and coordinates the Information Security Tools group with regard to integration of proper tools portfolio into and
implementation of Security Architecture decisions through the group.
Principal working relationship#
- IS Council Members and Business Partners to understand business demand, needs and priorities;
- Process Owners and business users to understand business process and functional requirements;
- Global Information Security Services Management to ensure architectural involvement in life-cycle of Information Security services;
- Global Infrastructure Services Management to ensure architectural involvement in life-cycle of infrastructure services;
- Platform/Technology Domain Architects to make sure applications and technology integrate seamlessly across the board;
- Domain Delivery Managers to assist project planning and to provide architectural quality control and validation for projects;
- Solution Architects and, as the case may be, Tools Portfolio Managers, to ensure correct implementation of the solution and tools
portfolio and to obtain performance feedback about the existing solution and tools portfolio;
- IS Purchasers to buy the right solutions in the IS market at the right price.
Requirements
- Superior analytical skills and a deep understanding of the overall context of business processes and IS technologies;
- Superior experience in leading IS people who do not report directly;
- Superior experience in identifying and resolving issues between team members or other teams;
- Superior experience to translate business requirements into IS capabilities and solutions;
- Excellent experience in objectively evaluating IS solutions and making recommendations;
• Excellent experience in project planning and execution as well as economic aspects of system management and life cycle;
• Degree in information security, information management, computer science / systems, business engineering or similar;
• Above 5 years of experience in working in a non-native country and culture;
- Fluent spoken and written English;
- Able to translate business requirements into IT capabilities and solutions;
- Experience in objectively evaluating solutions and making recommendations;
- 15+ years of experience with IT Infrastructure and Application processes and solutions with regard to Information Security
Architecture;
- Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the overall context;
- Experience in project planning and execution as well as economic aspects of system management and life cycle.
