WSCB Working Together to Achieve Effective Referrals
Target Group:
This training is aimed at front line staff who are likely to be in a position of needing to
make a referral based on their engagement or observations of a child and / or their
family.
This training should also be accessed by those in agency settings who are

concern regarding a child/children.
It is also recommended that staff in positions where there is an expectation to
contribute to and / or lead multi-agency assessments attend this session.
Aims:
Provide an opportunity for staff to gain greater understanding of the process from
referral to assessment. Understanding the challenges faced by both referral makers
and referral takers. Developing skills in the identification of and completion of both
referrals and assessments.

understanding of:

How to make quality referrals when there is concern about a child.
