PVDF
PVDF is monofilament non-absorbable suture made of polyvunyldinefluoride. The kinds of tissues that PVDF can be used
for are the same as for polypropylene. The only difference is that PVDF is smoother. Thanks to its homogeneous and smooth
surface it penetrates tissue surface easily. It has good tensile strength. Atraumatic combinations of PVDF are available in a
range of gauge sizes and lengths, non-needled or attached to different types and sizes of single and double stainless steel
needles. Grey colour is used on single and collective packaging.
PVDF complies with the requirements of European Pharmacopoeia for sterile, non-absorbable, monofilament sutures.
INDICATIONS AND USE
Combination of PVDF threads and needles are used according to kind and size of the wound, surgical procedures and
techniques, experience of surgeon and condition of the patient. PVDF are intended for use in general all tissue, skin closure,
cardiovascular, urology, plastic surgery. Because of physiological propriety ( thread is totally indifferent) high biostability
and lack of getting stale in tissue, thread guarantee long durability of the suture.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
None known.
PRECAUTIONS
As with any foreign body prolonged contact of any suture with body fluids, such as those found in urinary tracts or
circulatory system may cause contamination. Using PVDF sutures may cause minimal initial inflammatory which is followed
by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the surface of
the material.
SIDE EFFECT
Using PVDF sutures may cause minimal initial inflammatory. As with any foreign body prolonged contact of any suture with
tissue may cause wound contamination and infection.
STERILITY
Sutures are sterilized by ethylene oxide gas. Do not use if package is opened or damaged. Do not resterilize. Discard opened,
unused sutures. In closed packages expiry date is guaranteed till the date on the package.
STORAGE
Sutures should be storage in original packages, away from moisture and direct heat, below 32 °C. Do not use after expiry
date.
