DERMATOLOGY Emulsifying Ointment 50% w/w in Purified Water Product Description Emulsifying Ointment is a mix of paraffin oils, which when applied to the skin, provides a layer of oil to minimise water loss from the skin. The skin dries out when too much water evaporates from its surface. This increases as we get older and is made worse by washing, because hot water and soap remove the layer of natural oil on the skin surface. Moisturisers such as emulsifying ointment are helpful for very dry skin conditions, particularly eczema and dermatitis, which get worse when the skin is allowed to dry out. Used regularly, Emulsifying Ointment can help restore the skin's smoothness, softness and flexibility by helping the skin to retain moisture. It should be applied frequently to prevent the skin drying out. Emulsifying ointment can also be used in place of soap when washing to prevent dry skin conditions. Use For dry skin conditions or as a soap substitute Applications Emulsifying Ointment soothes and protects very dry, cracked skin. • All dry skin conditions • Soap substitute & moisturiser • More occlusive than Aqueous Cream • helpful for treating eczema and dermatitis • Suitable for sensitive skin, non-irritating • Free of colour, perfume and lanolin • Non-greasy, easy to apply and will not clog pores Emulsifying Ointment can also be used as required for extemporaneous preparations when compounding various creams, ointments and lotions.
