Director Biography
Jennifer S. Weeks, University of Redlands, College of Arts and Sciences, 1980
Career
After graduating from the U of R, Jennifer earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from
California Lutheran College. She worked as an Administrative Aide for the City Simi Valley, Public Works.
Upon a move to the Coachella Valley, she went to work for the County of Riverside as a Staff Analyst in
the county health department. Later, she worked for the County of Riverside Fairgrounds in Indio,
California as a manager. Currently she is teaching middle school language arts and social studies for
Desert Sands Unified School District. She has taught third, fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth grades.
University of Redlands
While at the University of Redlands, Jennifer participated in the Freshman Organizing Committee,
theatre productions (backstage), Model United Nations, Salzburg semester 1978, Basketball- Lady
Bulldog, Ford/Dole UR student election committee and Senior Graduation Commencement
Committee/Speaker. During her time at Redlands, Jennifer applied for, and was accepted as a
Congressional Intern for John J. Rhodes, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Summer
1979- Washington, D.C.
Community and Civic
Throughout the years Jennifer was involved in Boy Scouts of America as a parent leader. She also
participated as a parent volunteer for swimming and water polo with her children. Jennifer was also
active as a Deacon and an Elder in the Presbyterian church. She continues to be a regular blood donor.
She has participated in a number of Bulldogs in Service activities and contributed to the UR Centennial
Celebration.
Education
Jennifer has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in business.
Her interest in the public sector led her to obtain a Master’s in Public Administration from California
Lutheran University (College 1984). She also worked as a graduate assistant while attending CLU. As she
changed careers, Jennifer obtained a Teacher Credential, Multi-Subject 2000, from Chapman College.
She also earned a Gifted and Talented Education certificate.
Personal
Jennifer was married to Alan Weeks for twenty-nine years. Alan passed away from cancer in May 2011. Jennifer
and Alan met at Redlands through the Salzburg Semester. Alan was also a UR graduate. They married in 1982.
Our daughter Chandler is a 2011UR graduate in Biology. She met her husband, Taylor Atchison (UR grad),
during her tenure at Redlands. They live in Portland, Oregon. Our son, Calum, is a graduate of Humboldt State
University with degrees in Economics and Political Science. He currently resides in Santa Rosa, California. He
serves as a staffer for various political office candidates.
