A committee meeting was held on October 14, 2013.
Since there were no new protocols on campus during the time period of October 2013 through
March 2014, it was not necessary to conduct an annual program review at a convened meeting of
the IACUC during the Spring of 2014.
Currently, there are no active protocols on campus. Therefore, the IACUC is inactive. When
another animal protocol is submitted, the members of the IACUC will continue to ensure that
animal research at Marywood University is conducted with care and compliance.
Veterinary care is provided consistent with the requirement to provide adequate veterinary care
to all species as per The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the USDA
Animal Welfare Regulations. To date, no animal health issues have been brought to the
Attending Veterinarian. The Attending Veterinarian, Dr. F. Claire Hankenson, serves as a
consultant in this capacity and is a board-certified specialist in laboratory animal medicine.
Evening and weekend animal care (when there are live animals on campus) is provided by the
investigator for the approved research protocols. However, there are currently no live animals on
campus requiring animal care.
