Presence Health Names Jacob Groenewold New System Vice
President Supply Chain
(Chicago, Ill.) – Presence Health has announced that Jacob Groenewold
has been named New System Vice President Supply Chain. Groenewold
will assume this role effective October 3, 2016.
In this role, Groenewold will be accountable for the life cycle of clinical
and non-clinical products and services utilized by the entire Presence
Health system, as well as the managing and mitigating of risk, engaging
physicians and other clinicians in proactively identifying, selecting,
sourcing, procuring and distributing products and services for the
health system. He will also help leverage Presence Health’s position as
the second largest health system in Illinois to secure end-to-end value in
the organization’s supply chain management.
With more than 25 years of experience in purchasing and overall supply
chain operations Groenewold comes to Presence Health from Vizient,
Inc. (formerly University HealthSystem Consortium) in Chicago where
he served as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain. At UHC, he increased
supply chain revenue by over 100% with member sales reporting
increasing from $4.6 billion to $10.7 billion. He led clinical and
operational improvement efforts for over 350 members, resulting in
savings in excess of $1.0 billion. He maintained overall responsibility for
80% of company revenue and 90% of company profit. UHC exceeded
revenue and operating income objectives while maintaining the highest
employee and customer satisfaction ratings in the company under
Groenewold’s supply chain management. He has also held executive level
positions with Consorta, Premier, Owens and Minor and Lutheran General
Healthsystem.
Groenewold received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Calvin
College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and received his Master of Business
Administration from DePaul University. He has several professional
affiliations, including with the Health Care Financial Management
Association (HFMA), the Association for Healthcare Resource and
Materials Management (AHRMM) and the International Healthcare
Federation.
