Battle of New Orleans
British commanders target the city
of New Orleans in what they hope
to be a decisive victory.
Defending New Orleans is General
Andrew Jackson and his ragtag
army of 7,000 militia, free African
Americans, Indians, and pirates.
On January 8, 1815 more than 7,500
British troops marched into battle
expecting an easy win. However,
they were wrong. Some 2,000 British
troops were killed compared to only
20 American troops.
Despite being totally unnecessary,
the Battle of New Orleans proved a
major victory for the U.S of A!
Response from a War Hawk…
My name is Congressman
John C. Calhoun, and I say
let’s end this business right
here, right now. I think I
speak for a majority of
dedicated Americans when I
say enough with the
impressment and enough
with this Indian drama. Let’s
take back what is ours in
Canada and protect our
future on the frontier.
Yee-Haw.
