RH puts Basingstoke businesses on the doorstep of European customers!
Owing to local demand, the UK's largest independently owned European freight firm has
invested in a new office in Basingstoke, and has been warmly welcomed by the Chief
Executive of the Chamber of Commerce.
RH Freight recently opened a branch at the Chineham Business Park, from where it
provides services to businesses trading with Europe and other parts of the world.
John Harrocks, Chief Executive and Head of International Trade at North Hampshire
Chamber of Commerce and Industry said: "We welcome the introduction of RH into the
Basingstoke area, which is a vibrant and dynamic business hub. International trade is a
key contributor to the UK economy and many local businesses are active in exporting
and/or importing. There has been a dearth of freight companies in this part of north
Hampshire and it is encouraging to see this issue being addressed by the arrival of RH."
RH has created an initial six new jobs at the Basingstoke office, with further jobs planned
for the future as the business grows.
RH offers more daily services to European destinations than any other freight operator. It
runs over 600 trailers, providing regular freight delivery services to and from 74
European centres, covering all countries, stretching from Finland in the north, to Turkey
in the south, from Portugal in the west to Latvia in the east and every country in between.
Director, Peter Isler explains why RH decided to invest in Basingstoke. "This is a
thriving and expanding area, with leading businesses in the electronics, pharmaceuticals
and other sectors based here. Many of these businesses are already trading
internationally. By working with us, they will be able to offer their customers a more
frequent, faster and higher quality service, giving them a competitive advantage in their
market.
"We've been assessing the opportunity in Basingstoke for many months and it is clear
that this is an area of tremendous potential. It is an important strategic investment for RH
and we are looking forward to working with local businesses that trade with overseas
customers and suppliers."
With nearly 40 years experience RH Freight has 16 branches in the UK and Finland, as
well as two hubs in West Thurrock and Nottingham, at which customer freight is
consolidated before being delivered to its destination. Last year its turnover was just
under £120 million.
The new branch manager in Basingstoke Kathy Reason, commented: "RH is unlike any
other freight operator. Not only do we run daily to all of the major European countries,
but we also provide rapid, guaranteed 24 and 48 hour express deliveries."
