Reaching and Equipping People with the Grace of Jesus.
New Wine Community Church,
June 26, 2013
We have an Enemy who will attack us by accusations about our
behavior and falling short of God’s love and grace for our lives. This is a
lie from Satan who is the “father of lies” [John8:44]. As we studied last
weekend, we didn’t do anything but believe on Jesus’ finished work on
the cross to receive our salvation and his righteousness. This is also the
same finished work that keeps our salvation and nothing we do of our
own works is part of it.
Paul tells the Galatians this same thing when he sees others trying to
pull them into a works and behavior system of keeping their
relationship with God.

I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit
by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so
foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to
finish by means of the flesh? Galatians 3:2-3 (NIV)
The miracle of the “New Birth” is that we are transformed by the Holy
Spirit and no longer focus on keeping laws but on the Keeper of our
salvation. We now are people of God that will allow the Spirit to guide
us as we receive grace through our most gracious Savior.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what
the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have
their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Romans 8:5 (NIV)
If we could have done it ourselves why did the Son of God come into
this world to pay our price and give us His reward? We give no esteem
to anything our “work” would achieve but only in the wonderful
relationship we have in Jesus.
Philippians 3:3 (NIV)3 … we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in
Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
May you come to know Jesus more fully!
