• It is the complex total way of life for the
Jewish people, made up of religion, law,
and cultural traditions.
• God revealed a pattern and structure of

• Original settlement, located between the
Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea.

• Abraham brought the Hebrew people to
Canaan.
• The Hebrew ancestors of the people of Israel
migrated to Egypt, where they lived in
servitude.
• Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt and into
the desert for 40 years.
• During this time God came to Moses at Mt.
Sinai and delivered the 10 Commandments.
• These commandments are the foundation of
the civil and religious laws of Judaism.

A major religion stemming from the life,
teachings, and death of Jesus of Nazareth
in the 1st century AD. It has become the
largest of the worlds religions.
Christianity
The religion is more than a system of
belief. It also has generated a culture, a
set of ideas ways of life, and practices.
Origins and Mythos
• Born in Bethlehem to a Jewish couple, Mary and
Joseph through immaculate conception.
• In his adult life Jesus began traveling, preaching,
completing good works, and performing miracles.
• He emphasized monotheism, the 10
commandments, and the personal relationship
with god.
• His teachings challenged Roman ideals and were
considered blasphemy for which he was sentenced
to death by crucifixion.
• After raising from the dead, his apostles were
convinced he was the Messiah.
• The New Testament is a continuation of the
Torah written after his death.

• Muslims believe that the verses
of the Quran were revealed to
Muhammad by God through the
archangel Gabriel many times
between 610 CE, until his death
632.
• In Islam Muhammad is
considered the last of a series of
prophets including Adam, Noah,
Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.
• Originating in Mecca it quickly
spread throughout the region.
• In 622 CE, when the Prophet
migrated to Medina, his
preaching was soon accepted,
and the community-state of
Islam emerged.
