Basic Function
To administer the tasks and supervise staff related to a well-defined, comprehensive plan to
disseminate information about child and family needs in Florida, methods being used to meet
those needs, and present avenues through which Florida Baptists and others may invest
themselves and their resources in needy children and families in the Name of Jesus Christ. This
plan and task assignments shall be expressed through annual goals and strategies that include the
use of print, visual and audio, public speaking and one-on-one visits, a broad range of investment
opportunities including annual, memorial and honor, designated and un-designated gifting,
church and denominational gifting, personal above-average giving, planned and deferred (estates,
trusts) gifts, foundation and corporate gifts, and other.
Basic Responsibilities
1. To supervise the development and implementation of annual goals and strategies, in keeping
with trustee-adopted long range plans, that will inform as many Floridians as possible of the
needs of children and families in crisis, the roll this institution is playing in meeting those
needs, and offer a wide variety of investment opportunities for individuals and groups.
2. To recruit and supervise, directly or by assignment, all development and public relations
staff.

3. To provide a plan of continuing education for staff that includes in-house instruction as well
as appropriate workshops, seminars or professional groups. Training in development
principles and methods shall also be offered to other administrative staff.
4. To develop an annual budget which shall include all expenses for development and public
relations and in cooperation with the institution’s plan for budget development.
5. To work closely with information services personnel to assure the development and
maintenance of a broad data base so as to enlist new friends, cultivate current donors, and
enlist new donors through the joy of giving.
6. To accept such other duties as may be assigned.
