The Caring House is a non‐profit, non‐denominational pro‐life ministry that has served Spalding
County and the surrounding area for 25 years. We function as a women’s resource /crisis
pregnancy center to the general public by providing educational, spiritual and emotional support, and
resource services.
Our Purpose:




To offer confidential counseling, hope and support to women facing an unplanned
pregnancy.
To encourage, educate, and equip women & their families to make wise life style choices
through our Earn While You Learn program, parenting classes, and mentoring mom
program.
To give practical assistance with baby items & clothing to those in need through our donation
closet.
To actively promote self-sufficiency & autonomy by providing appropriate referrals to
community resources.
Our Mission:
Mission of the Caring House, established to serve as a voice for the unborn, is to encourage, educate
and equip women and their families to make wise and Godly life style choices while sharing with them
Christ’s truth and love.

FNC-GA offers the Nurturing Parenting Programs in local communities, as part of the Nurturing
Georgia’s Families® Project. Our trained facilitators work to prevent the cited problem of child
abuse, neglect and substance abuse via in-home visitation and group- based programming.
Workshops are available, which are two-hour workshops, and are research-based, individual
lessons from our full parenting programs, and we offer them for FREE in 74 counties, including
Spalding. The tailored workshops target community members but are considered primary prevention
and provide useful information for anyone attending.
Workshops engage participants with fun, interactive activities, while giving them basic parenting
skills that work!
Workshops include: (1) 12 Steps to Keeping Your Kids Drug- Free; (2) You, Your Environment and
Your Baby; (3) Nurturing Touch; (4) Breaking the Cycle: Child Abuse Awareness and Education; (5)
Challenge for a Change; (6) Turning Chaos to Confidence; (7) Live Love, and Laugh; (8)
Appropriate Boundaries in Parenting.

Kinship Care is the response to the increasing number of grandparents,
relatives, and other caregivers who have assumed responsibility for
raising another relative’s child.
A Kinship Caregiver serves as a short or long term caregiver for relative
children. A Kinship Caregiver can be a grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling
or anyone who has established a “kin” like bond with the children. The
majority of kinship care arrangements are informal, private arrangements
between parents and relative caregiver, while other situations involve the
child welfare system.
The Kinship Program is designed to assist the Kinship Caregiver at any
junction in the child/caregiver relationship.
The Kinship Care Support Group meets the 1st Thursday of each month
at the Spalding County Senior Center; 885 Memorial Drive, Griffin.

Mothers Against Methamphetamine is involved in community education about the horrors
of methamphetamine addiction at many different levels. Our videos and printed materials,
booklets and pamphlets, provide basic information about the effects of methamphetamine
on the human brain and personality in terms anyone can understand. Our chapters use
these materials to hold community education events in schools, churches and community.

How Can We Help You? Prevent Child Abuse Georgia's toll-free statewide HELPLINE
provides information, referrals, and support for parents, survivors of abuse, professionals,
community members, children, adolescents, families, educators, new parents, grandparents
and more. Because the Helpline is anonymous and confidential, it is often the first point of
contact for individuals in need.
“Need to Talk?" program - gives children and youth a confidential place to call when they
need to discuss tough subjects such as bullying, violence, alcohol and drugs, peer
relationships, personal development, family problems and other issues.
PCA Georgia staff and trained volunteers are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 8
p.m., to answer questions and provide information, Call 1-800-CHILDREN or e-mail
[email protected].
Next Step
A grief support group offering information and hope for women who have lost a spouse
though death. Meets the second Saturday of the month in the community room of Willis Oil
Co., 1403 North Expressway; Griffin GA.
Parkinson Support Group
For people who are suffering from Parkinson's disease and their family members. The group
discusses topics including exercise, mobility issues, nutrition, medications and more. The
group meets the 4th Wednesday of every month at Spalding Regional.

Promise Place is a DHR certified domestic violence shelter to serve women and children in
Spalding, Pike, Upson and Fayette needing safety from domestic violence.
It offers a 24 hour crisis line, shelter, legal advocacy, court assistance, weekly support group,
counseling for children, food pantry, thrift shop, transitional housing and community education and
training. Domestic Violence is a pattern of physically, sexually, and/or emotionally abusive behaviors
used by one individual to assert power of maintain control over another in the contest of an intimate
or family relationship. As an individual you have rights to safety. It is against the law for anyone to
use physical violence against you, regardless of whether you are related, married or just know the
person. Call for help.

her unharmed newborn, up to 7 days old, at any licensed medical facility in Georgia. Tell any
employee that you want to leave your baby with Safe Place for Newborns.
Your baby will be given any needed medical care, then place in foster care for
adoption.

Feel Good Look Better
Hands-on group workshop dedicated to helping female cancer patients cope with and
combat appearance related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. This is

Trauma and Grief Support (T.A.G.S.)

T.A.G.S. was created by the Victim Service Unit of the Sheriff’s Department to help victims
of traumatic events including but not limed to homicide, suicide, accidental death and
vehicular homicide, etc. The support group is led by a certified counselor with Crosbyth
Mitchell Counseling Services. TAGS meet the 4 Thursday of each
Month.
Some symptoms are the grieving process are fatigue, crying feeling empty sleeping
problems, eating problems, physical aches and pains, sad angry, fear denial, sense of
abandonment, restlessness and loss of companionships. T.A.G.S. is about grieving and
healing with the help of others.
