ICHS Annual Meeting Minutes 3-13-2017 Training Room at the Shelter Call to Order President John Mutschler called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. Attending is the Treasurer Lisa Cvengros and Director Dianne Evans. Secretary Nancy K. Smith sent her regrets that she was unable to attend due to an emergency. Director Mike Van Sicklen was also absent. Dianne agreed to take this evening’s minutes. Attending from the Society’s Staff are Bonnie Zimmerman Kennel Manager and Jen Siegel Outreach Manager/Humane Officer. Binga Manwiller Office Manager was absent as she is finishing up her maternity leave. Also attending are ICHS members, Nancy Nichols, Sharon Shea, Arnette Small, Judy Lindholm, Terri Davis, Louanna Schulte, Nancy Mueller and Marcia Thompson. Review of the Year President John presented an excellent power point reviewing many of Iowa County Human Society’s successes. Some of them listed are: an increase in dogs adopted, an increase of cats adopted, more schools participating in ICHS activities, huge volunteer hours delivered, increase in donations and a stable and excellent staff. Goals going forward are: a new roof, new flooring, and consistent municipal contracts, expanding the behavior modification program, further enhancing outreach and increasing fundraising. Lisa Cvengros is leaving the board after three years of working as the ICHS Treasurer. John developed a dependent variable chart demonstrating Lisa’s past and present demand on her body’s physical, mental and emotional energy as she transitions Treasurers duties to another individual. John then showed a chart chronicling a contrasting a reverse trajectory of physical, mental and emotional energy as Lisa transitions out of ICHS. Approval of Previous annual Meeting Minutes The minutes from the Annual meeting of March 14th 2016 were presented. No questions or concerns were brought up. Lisa motioned that the minutes be approved, Dianne seconded them and all voted to approve the minutes. Managers’ Reports: Kennel Manager Bonnie Zimmerman: In addition to a written report, Bonnie reviewed that last year saw many more euthanasia’s than in previous years. This past year saw three situations of animal hoards were animals had never received preventive health care. Office Manager Binga Manwiller: In addition to a written report President John reviewed the high lights of the Volunteer program. Last year 122 volunteers were trained and 88 are actively volunteering. Cats continue to be cuddled and socialized while the dogs are walked and socialized. Outreach Manager/Fundraising/Humane Officer Jen Siegel: The biggest fund raiser last year was a once only Green Bay Packer fund raiser. Around 32 thousand dollars was raised. Jen has found that Facebook is the most widespread method to keep in touch with the public. Our Facebook page has 6000 followers. This past year found Jen spending a lot of time as the Humane Officer. Committee Reports: Buildings and Grounds- Lisa Cvengros reports that much work has been accomplished this past year with most of it completed and paid by volunteers. Walls have been painted, flooring replaced and electrical work updated. Personnel- Dianne reported that the personnel evaluation was revamped. Performance scales were replaced with skill strength’s and performance goals. Animal Welfare and Enrichment- Terri Davis reports that vertical space was added to the cat living room accessing more space for the cats. Cages for wild cats have been completed. The training room is marvelous. The MOD Squad is again up and running. The MOD Squad is a behavioral modification program developed to assist the animals in becoming adoptable. Nominating Committee for 2018 The 2017 committee has agreed to be the 2018 committee. The committee members are Terri Davis, Marcia Thompson and Arnette Small. Election of Board of Directors Introduction of Candidates: Three candidates are up for election. Judy Lindholm is from Mineral Point and presently is a County Supervisor. She has adopted from the ICHS and is excited to be joining the board. Luanna Schulte is newer to Iowa County after living in Baraboo. She is a foster parent for kitties and is looking forward to being more involved in the Humane Society. Nancy Mueller lives outside of Dodgeville, with her husband. For years she worked for the DPI in Madison. She spends a lot of time trapping wild cats, vetting them, and releasing them. Paper ballets were handed out by President John. The ballets were collected by Dianne and Lisa. The ballots were counted and all three candidates were elected. Public Comment: The past year can best be described as a spirit of co-operation. The Board and Staff exhibit themselves as well organized and passionate about the welfare of animals. Adjournment Lisa Cvengros motioned for the Board Meeting to end with John Mutschler second. All approved.
