Project Objective: Migrate Analytics environments from SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 to SAP Business Objects BI
4.1 platform as a foundation technology for reporting and analytics which would be in use by the Chevron
employees globally, and upgrading BMC Analytics from 7.6 to 8.1. Design and implement the SAP BO Solution,
Implement new server architecture and sizing for better performance and new governance and security
structure.
User base: 68000 viewers, 1000 report developers, 40 Chevron BU’s, 30000+ Webi Reports.

Roles and Responsibilities:
 Create the architecture, deployment and migration plans.
 Involve in discussions with the client leadership team to gather the requirements and their expectations.
 Implement the new governance and security structure.
 Creating documentation for each phases of the project and get reviewed and sign off from the client
leadership team.
 Creating roadmap for the analytics and integration of different solutions.
 Analyze the existing environment to find the gaps and improvement areas and to plan the new
environment accordingly.







Discussion and negotiations with SAP for the purchase of extra CPU licenses.
Create new systems on SAP Service Marketplace for the new environment and request license keys.
Propose hardware and software requirements based on the sizing calculations.
Get an approval for the new server hardware requests and assist server provisioning team for the
review.
Get in touch with the DB team for the provisioning of the new database requirements for reporting DB,
CMS and audit DB.
Communicate with the users and the champions with the progress of the upgrade.
Developed internal website to share the training materials, videos and interactive tutorials with the
users to get familiar with the new version.
Meeting with the analytics team leads of all 40 BU’s to introduce them with the new version, features,
governance, migration process, change freeze announcement and to share what is required from them
before and after the migration.
Working with the network team to configure F5 loadbalancer, DNS alias for the URLs, finalize load
balancing methodology, Firewall exceptions, SSL configuration, network communication testing,
dependencies in configuring Windows AD SSO.
Deploy the solution in Sandbox environment and present POC.

Windows 2008 R2 with MSSQL as the reporting and CMS databases, Tomcat as the web application

configured monitoring, BI Launchpad customization, Security, migration of reports and universes from
3.1 environment, upgrading BMC analytics from 7.6 to 8.1, LCM.
Sizing the new environment as per the sizing calculations and best practices to gain better performance.
Planning and executing backup and restore procedure.
Assigning the project tasks within the team.
Post upgrading BMC Analytics work with the universe developer to implement all the changes in the
objects previously performed in 7.6 universe and assign the testing tasks to the team.
Post deployment completion developed test script to document and test all the workflows.
Used Apache jmeter for the automated testing.
Regression performance testing of web application server and intelligence tier.
Handover the servers for UAT, maintain test scripts and resolve the reported issues.
