KIPLINGER WINS SOCIETY OF AMERICAN BUSINESS EDITORS AND
WRITERS’ GENERAL EXCELLENCE AWARD
Award Honors Excellence in Business and Financial Journalism Across All News Platforms
Washington, D.C. (February 22, 2012)— Recognizing the merit of its outstanding editorial
content, the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) has honored
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance with its Best in Business General Excellence Award for giant
magazines (circulation of 500,000 and higher).
SABEW, the world’s largest and oldest organization of business and financial journalists, began
its Best in Business competition in 1995 to set standards and recognize industry role models.
Kiplinger’s was one of 1,030 entries vying for the distinguished industry awards – up from 950
entries in last year’s competition.
“This award is particularly significant to us because it represents a validation of our efforts by
more than 200 working journalists and academics on the judging panel, whom we are proud to
call our peers,” said Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Editor Janet Bodnar. “On behalf of our 2.5
million readers and dedicated staff, we are honored to receive this award.”
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance is the standard-bearer in personal finance journalism. For over 60
years, the magazine has staked its claim by providing investing, managing and spending
guidance with a consistent, timely and authoritative editorial voice.
The awards will be presented Saturday, March 17, at the NCAA Hall of Champions in
Indianapolis.
